Visiting and Supporting One Another

In the Christian life we are called to care for one another, especially those who may be lonely, struggling, or in need. One of the most meaningful ways we live out this calling in our parish is through visiting people.

At the heart of the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is person-to-person friendship. By simply spending time with people, listening to them, and walking alongside them, we help ensure that no one in our community feels forgotten.

These visits are often described as befriending—offering companionship, encouragement, and practical support rooted in our shared faith and commitment to the dignity of every person.

How We Help

Members of the parish SVP group make friendly visits to people who would welcome company or who may need practical help. Each situation is approached with care, respect, and discretion.

Through these visits we may be able to help by: offering

  • Friendly visits to parishioners and local residents

  • Companionship for those who may feel isolated

  • Practical support where we are able

  • Limited assistance for those experiencing financial hardship

Often the most valuable thing we can offer is simply our time and our presence. If you feel that you, or someone you know, needs our support - please reach out using the contact information below.

The Hemel East SVP Group

The SVP group serving Hemel East Catholic Parish was formed in 2026 to support people in our local community.

Our mission is to serve Christ through serving those in need. We aim to bring friendship, hope, and practical help to anyone who may be experiencing hardship, loneliness, or difficulty.

Our work is simple but important: being present to others and reminding them that they are part of a caring community.

If you feel called to serve others by volunteering in this way, we would be delighted to hear from you. We welcome volunteers from across our parish community. We understand that everyone’s availability and capacity to help is different, and we value whatever time people are able to give.

By joining the SVP you become part of a ministry of faith in action, bringing the love of Christ to those who need it most.
