Congratulations on your engagement!

It is our privilege to help you prepare for your life together in this wonderful sacrament, and we are prepared to do just that.

The focus of marriage preparation is not centred primarily on planning the wedding. Its focus is on preparing to live out a lifelong union of love with the Lord.

Wedding Preparation

We are happy to work with you to prepare for the Sacrament of Matrimony. Whether you are planning a wedding at Hemel Hempstead East, or planning a wedding elsewhere, we are happy to work with you to complete your Marriage Preparation requirements. The Diocese of Westminster has a minimum preparation time of at least six months prior to your planned wedding date, but planning a year or more is not uncommon. This can seem like a long time but there is a lot to think about, including paperwork and documentation.

Preparing to be married in the Catholic Church means preparing for your future life together. Of course it means considering the wedding ceremony; how to make it personal and significant, but, importantly, it involves thinking about what life will be like as husband and wife.

What will change for you both? How will the gift of children enhance and challenge your relationship? What are your individual and shared hopes for the future? What if one of you is not a Catholic? These and other questions are discussed with the priest during the period of preparation and also during a Marriage Preparation day which is organised locally. This is an opportunity to meet other couples who are preparing.

Marriage

Next Step

Your first step is to contact the Parish Priest to schedule a meeting to get the process started. Unfortunately we are not able to discuss dates for weddings until this meeting has taken place. The parish requires 6 months notice to do the paperwork for a marriage. Please don’t hesitate, if you are thinking about marriage…contact us! We look forward to hearing from you.

Feel free to contact us if you have any preliminary questions we can help with.
