Begin the journey

Would you like to have your youth receive Confirmation, First Communion, or Baptism?

We would be delighted to journey with your family through this process.

We encourage families not to take this step simply because their child is the “right age” but to consider if now is the right time for your child and your family.

If your youth and family are ready to prepare for one of the sacraments and to accept responsibility for helping your youth fulfil all requirements, then we encourage you to take the next step.

Confirmation

Any youth in Y9 or above is welcome to enrol in our confirmation program.

Our Confirmation teens are expected to attend Confirmation Preparation sessions. These take place at JFK School by Mr Callum Moore. Our parish works closely with him in the preparation of our young people.

RCIA

(Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) adapted for youth

Any young person of secondary school age interested being baptised in the Catholic faith.

Those with baptism in another Christian faith are welcome to enrol in our confirmation program. Please speak to Fr Kim if this is where you are.

First Communion for Youths

Any young person in secondary school is welcome to enrol in our first communion preparation.

Any teens enrolled in our confirmation program will receive preparation for both sacraments in the confirmation program.

Signs of Readiness

How do I know if I am ready for a sacrament?

• An openness and desire on the part of the young person for the Sacrament

• A relationship with Jesus especially in prayer

• Regular Mass attendance

• Time to devote to preparation

• Enrolled in prior years of youth ministry or faith formation

Baptismal or Birth Certificate

We require a copy of the youths Baptismal Certificate (For Confirmation & First Communion) or Birth Certificate (For RCIA) be presented in order to consider them fully registered, even if they were Baptised at Hemel East.
